Hope Sophomore Performs on TV

By DONYELLA KITRELL-JACKSON, Sophomore at Chicago Hope Academy

Last month I had the opportunity to perform on The Steve Harvey Show. I performed with the professional tap dance company I am a part of, called M.A.D.D. (Making A Difference Dancing) Rhythms . The main reason M.A.D.D. Rhythms exists is to make a difference around the world with our dancing. We hope to impact the lives of those around us by exposing them to the true form and art of tap dance. We travel all over showcasing our talent for all to see. This time we were able to do it on the iconic television program, The Steve Harvey Show.

Being able to even take part in such a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the other members of M.A.D.D. Rhythms was amazing. Backstage, in our “green room,” the staff treated us nicely and, for me, just going through something like Hair & Make-up was new. Before going to perform it really hit me that there were many famous shows that had taken place at the NBC Towers prior to us being there that day.

Under that pressure, it was finally showtime. Performing was spectacular. Not only did the crowd get in to it, so did Steve Harvey! I am so blessed to have been able to perform on The Steve Harvey Show. I hope this isn’t our last appearance.
