Chicago Hope Academy is taking Career and Technical Science (CTS) and workforce readiness to a new level for our students and families. Alongside the same high-quality learning and personalized attention we offer in each class, we’re introducing a hands-on course in partnership with a coalition of Illinois trade unions.

Mr. Kevin WaltersCTS Instructor
Mr. Walters is an experienced union electrician with over 20 years of experience in residential, industrial, and commercial electrical installations, maintenance, and repair. He has a proven track record of successful projects and various infrastructures with a commitment to safety and efficiency. His goal at Hope is to prepare students for a registered apprenticeship program by offering structured pre-apprenticeship training.
CTS Building Trades for 11th Graders
This introductory course is designed to teach the basic requirements of general building construction. Students will be exposed to the skills, tasks and qualities needed to become a successful trade person. Areas of study include: material identification, material handling fasteners and adhesives, intro to hand and power tools, safety and personal protective equipment, employability skills, and more.
CTS Building Trades for 12th Graders
This course prepares students who are interested in pursuing a career in the electrical field. A strong emphasis is placed on safe work practices. Students will assemble, install, maintain, and test electrical equipment and wiring systems. Upon completion of this course, the students will be prepared to enter an electrical apprenticeship to apply their learned knowledge and further their skillset to become journeyman Electricians.
